DemandHeads founder shortlisted at the inaugural Slicer Awards

Gary Gould, founder of DemandHeads, is a finalist in the Brand & Positioning category of the Slicer Awards, the UK's first awards programme for fractional, freelance, interim and consultancy marketing leaders.

Finalist in the Brand & Positioning category of the Slicer Awards

The Slicer Awards are run by The Slice Network, a community of more than 1,400 vetted senior fractional marketers. They exist to recognise work that usually goes unseen, because fractional marketers do it behind the scenes.

The Brand & Positioning category recognises repositioning, brand launches and identity work where strategy and creative work produced commercial results. In the organisers' words, it's "not a rebrand for its own sake" but "a deliberate act of market-making with results to prove it."

A strong field and a tough panel

The category was judged by Head Judge Katharine Mainprize, alongside Nikki Harman, Ralph Risk, Natalie Sweet and Chris Cathcart. The judging is outcome-led, so entries had to show evidence of commercial impact, not just good-looking work.

Gary is one of four finalists, alongside Elizabeth Lichten, Lauren Miller and Rosie Thomas.

Jeremy Laight, founder of The Slice Network, said: "Being a finalist is already a great achievement."

Why it matters to us

Positioning is where growth starts. It's the work our DEFINE squad leads, and it's the first capability we look at in every Free Diagnostic. Being recognised by senior peers for it matters, because it's the same standard we hold ourselves to with clients: choices that make a business easier to choose, proven by commercial results.

Gary said: "Positioning is the hardest work to see and the easiest to skip. It's a set of choices, not a slide. To be shortlisted by a panel this senior, alongside marketers this good, is a real honour, and a nice sign that the fractional model is delivering work worth judging."

What happens next

The winner will be revealed on Wednesday 4 November at the Slicer Awards ceremony at Robert Half HQ in The Shard, London. The Brand & Positioning award is sponsored by Tracksuit.

Congratulations to all the finalists, and thank you to The Slice Network, the judges and Tracksuit.
